Cookbookery Catch-Up: October
Another excellent month for cookbooks!
Hello! And welcome to your monthly recap of Cookbookery newsletters. October was busy on this corner of Substack with five interviews, one live, and my most popular Note ever. (Long live libraries!) Have a wonderful weekend!
October Newsletters
Six Seasons, but Make It Pasta
Joshua McFadden is one of the few chefs I've met who's really into cookbooks. It shows in this interview. Plus, we discovered that the majority of Cookbookery readers (well, at least those that responded to the poll) are pasta people.
Justine Doiron Has a Heart for Cookbooks
A creator who has transcended social media. One of my friends who read this interview said, "Justine is doing it right." By "it" I think she meant this whole new way of being a food person—creating smart content, writing (actually writing) a bestselling cookbook, and showing up to support the community IRL.
Let Us Bake Cake!
It's impossible to say enough good things about Dorie and her new book. You should just read the interview if you haven't already.
Cookbook chat with Jimmy Proffitt, author of Seasoned in Appalachia
An interview with debut author Jimmy Proffitt about the experience of writing his first book, Seasoned in Appalachia. (Our facial expressions here are hilarious, but trust me when I say it's hard to find a moment in a live video where two people have their eyes open.)
Next Up! All* of November and December's New Cookbooks
It's Cookbookery Collective’s second ever cookbook preview! November and December's list is more streamlined but still full of exciting books.
Cookbook Events Are Magic
The Events Director at one of my favorite bookstores on how she decides which authors to book for events, the most memorable event she ever hosted, and the cookbooks that are selling well this fall.
Thanks for reading and being part of this lovely community! “See” you on Thursday. ❤️
