Spring 2026 Cookbook Preview
Buckle up for 125+ new titles launching in March, April, and May
This post is wayyy too long for your email! Please click through to read it in a browser or on the app.
Hello friends and welcome to your massive, exciting spring preview!
Two quick announcements before we dive in:
First, this afternoon at 4 PM ET Sally Ekus and I will be chatting on a Substack LIVE about all things spring cookbooks. To join us, hop into the app at 4 PM, and you’ll see that we have a live video going. We’ll share the video afterwards in case you aren’t able to make it.
Second, I finally started Cookbookery’s Instagram account! Follow along for cookbook news, sneak peeks at new titles, and what I’m cooking at home from cookbooks.
A big thank you to Chronicle Books for sponsoring this preview! Keep an eye out below for Chronicle’s spring titles Will This Make You Happy, Party Tricks, The Butter Book, Pizza Practice, The Flavor of Fire, and Cake Picnic. And, Chronicle is joining Substack! Sign up for the Chronicle Cooks newsletter for exclusive author content, behind-the-scenes interviews, curated recipes, and a first look at upcoming cookbooks.
A few observations on the spring books:
A cluster of cuisines - While several national and ethnic cuisines are represented, there are a few clusters worth noting: three Hawai’ian cookbooks, four Balkan/Turkish/Kurdish, three Scandinavian (all out on the same day!), two Malaysian, and two Korean. Plus the usual French, Italian, and Mexican.
Seasonal swings - Less health and wellness than in the last preview, more barbecue and grilling. Baking is back, but not to fall levels.
Conversational titles and very long subtitles - Ever since I Dream of Dinner (So You Don’t Have To), I’ve been noticing more “chatty” titles. There are only two examples here (so not quite a trend!) but still worth noting: My Greek Mom’s Recipes: She Died. I Wrote This Cookbook and I Sleep In My Kitchen. There are also a few here with looooong subtitles. I’ll let you suss them out!
Influencers/content creators/celebs are well represented - At my rough count (and, of course, the definition of “influencer” isn’t set in stone), I see 20+ titles that fit into this category.
Books with a brand connection - Including King Arthur, Tupperware, Diaspora Spice Co., Golde, and numerous IP tie-ins. Also, restaurants are brands, and there are several restaurant/chef cookbooks on their way.
The usual caveats and explanations:
This list aspires to be as complete a list as possible of every cookbook released in the U.S. this spring. Despite my best intentions, I’m sure I missed some books. If I did, please let me know in the comments (or hit reply and email me), and I will both update this post and include the book in the next newsletter.
The descriptions that follow each book are promo copy.
All of these books are available for pre-order.
Thoughts? Books you’re excited about? Please share in the comments, and enjoy!
