What an EPIC undertaking. A few questions: how did you find all these books? I’m so curious about sources for such an exhaustive list. Also, how long did this take? I feel like people should understand what a HUGE commitment this was to put together.
A few observations: lots of entertaining, gathering, southern, Asian. I see some single subjects that pique my interest too. I tried (unsuccessfully) to sell a Caribbean cookbook and it’s been revised and will be resubmitted in the fall. I’d love to see more of that popping up.
Seeing all these books over the span of just a few months leaves me feeling both excited and exhausted. It feels so true that it’s hard to find something new and fresh and yet here’s a list of a lot of that. Or old concepts reimagined in some cases.
As someone who almost exclusively represents cookbooks, I only have one book in this list. When I look at my fall books, more than a few are other non-fiction titles. It wasn’t until I saw all these cookbooks and compared it to my list of fall titles that it really started to sink in how much I’m selectively expanding my representation.
Lastly, it feels important to remember that many of these titles are from pitches a few years ago. So the quantity of creator led books and entertaining/parties makes sense coming out of the peak pandemic years. This fall list feels right on track with what I expect to see.
Oh actually this is my last observation: while there are a few celebs on here, it’s nice to see so many real deal chefs and award winning/nominated authors on here. Most fall cookbook line up’s have the celebrity bent and this list looks pretty industry led which is cool IMO.
So many good q's/observations here; no surprise. Thank you! Which book on the list did you represent? As for how I made the list--I've always kept a spreadsheet of new releases for my job at Real Simple. I feel like I get pitched almost every book, so this list is primarily made up of what I've received from PR. As for time, gulp, a lot! I'm not sure I can even quantify it. Many hours. I didn't quite realize how many books there were when I started haha. I've already added about 10 more since the list initially came out, ones I missed.
Excellent reminder that these books are the result of pitches from a few years ago. And I agree completely that there are a lot of cookbook all-stars on the list.
What a list! Thank you for compiling it. And what a joy to have mine (SILK ROADS) included. Still pinching myself sometimes that this is really happening!
this makes me miss working at Book Larder *so* much! Miss having access to sneak peeks -and damages! Regardless, such a fun and exciting time of the year I’m still pinching myself that I get to be a part of it this time around! If I had to pick one book, I think it would be baking and the meaning of life!! I just love Helen's baking style ♥️
Thank you so much, Jenna, for including me in the list! I knew I had some competition for Seasoned In Appalachia, but wow it’s an incredible list. I feel like I’m in a graduating class!
Sooooo many fabulous cookbooks coming out this fall! Thank you so much for the list -phew, what a job! - and thank you for featuring ANYTIME CAKES. I love being among so many authors I admire - xoD
WOW! What a list and exciting month! A little wild to see there are 3 cookbooks on this list for Sept that I photographed. Thanks for putting this together Jenna
Love this list!! I’m excited for a book on German baking, Alison Roman, Samin Nosrat, and Joshua McFadden. I agree with an earlier commenter about the relative dearth of celebrity chefs/influencers, with a few exceptions. I’d love to hear your thoughts on Dan Pelosi’s book when it comes out. To me, most of what he makes falls in the “no-recipe recipes” genre, and I find it a little absurd that he’s spun that into a NYT cooking gig and two cookbooks. But clearly not everyone agrees with me about him!
Hi Jenna, Thank you for taking on this massive undertaking and creating such an exhaustive list. It was so refreshing to see a roundup that captures almost all the launches. I know it must have been a huge amount of work, but honestly, it’s incredible. I haven’t come across any other blogs or posts that pull together something like this, and it really gives such a wide perspective on upcoming releases. So many of these books would have completely slipped under my radar otherwise.
I did want to flag one book I didn’t see on the list: Pastry Temple by Christina Wood. She’s the pastry chef and owner of Temple Pastries in Seattle, which is home to some of the best pastries in the city. :)
I’m so impressed by you, Jenna! I’m working on my fall curation now and wow wow this is so inspiring. There are a few on here that weren’t even on my radar!
Your shortlist here is also some of my faves. By the way, I saw Lauren Volo yesterday and may have gotten a tiny sneak peek on your next project. Gorgeous!!
Thank you! I adore Lauren. To watch her and Maeve assemble those shots (with cookies baked by me) took my breath away and filled me with joy and admiration. I'll be sure to send you an advanced copy!
LOVE this Jenna, Brava! And I'm geeking out on all of the covers. I'm seeing a lot of type-driven and illustrated designs in that mix, it makes my heart happy.

You’re amazing!! What a feat.
I rep Miyoko!
She is a mad scientist! It was amazing to photograph her book and meet all the vegan cheeses in person. They were so gorgeous.
You brought these to life!
Thx!!!
I loved reading your observations especially about the pitches and the process 🙏🏼
What a list! Thank you for compiling it. And what a joy to have mine (SILK ROADS) included. Still pinching myself sometimes that this is really happening!
Your cover is one of my faves--so beautiful!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy what’s inside too :)
I have no doubt :)
Bumper season! Thanks for this complete list. Great to see it all the titles together.
Thanks Hetty. Linger is one of the stand-outs for me!
That’s so kind. And I’m thrilled. Thank you.

Cannot wait for Helen’s book!!! (And yours too!)
